Origin Story

Strait Up began in the spring of 2018 as a part-business-and-part-fun-endeavor by Danny Milholland as co-editor and publisher, Justine Gonzalez-Berg Pratt as co-editor and staff writer, and Chen Pollina as master of design. They created the first three issues of Strait Up through 2019 and part of 2020.

By the latter half of 2020, the Strait Up team shifted. Danny and Chen stepped back and Justine remained as Editor-in-Chief with a new team of talented people, pivoting the magazine to an alternative media platform for Jefferson County.
